My prediction

Well, another family adopting from HK got the go ahead as well…congratualtions, Addie!  Looks like they will be spending Thanksgiving with their new son!

Based on these two families, I am making a prediction on when it is most likely that we could travel–the first or second week of December.  Yay!!!  Christmas is going to totally rock this year.  Totally ;o)

I still have much to do, but at least now I have a tad more motivation to actually get it done!  The language cards and Cantonese book from my previous post have been ordered and I even purchased Big Brother some new clothes.  I’ve made a clean sweep of toys and reorganized the house a bit to make more room for another bouncing boy.  I can’t believe we are so close now…we are now approaching 4 WEEKS WAITING FOR OUR HCO!  I’m letting that sink in for a moment…

[insert hyperventilating sounds here, followed by happy squealing]

It’s hard to believe that this time last year, we were just about to begin our homestudy to bring Big Brother home.  Wow, what a year.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Holy Cow!

Our Friends  who are also adopting from HK just got their high court order after waiting only 6ish weeks.

Holy cow!  We are on week 3…this means there is a possibility that we could travel by Thanksgiving.  Wowzers…

Go give them some love…they travel next week to bring home their beautiful son!!! Let’s hope our travel approval comes as quickly ;o)

More updates

Today we received a wonderful update on Big Brother, complete with a couple of short videos.  FANTASTIC!  It’s going to take a lot to wipe this huge grin off of my face ;o)

This is the 3rd week of waiting for the High Court Order.  Hopefully there are only 5 more to go!!!!!  Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Flood relief in Vietnam

Click the button below and pass it on…

Summary: Since Oct 6th, 2010, the monsoon season brought heavy flood to Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces and caused 112 deaths and 150,000 displaced families. With $30, you can provide a family with mosquito net, blankets, and warm clothings to survive the winter.

The List

We are officially on week 2 of waiting for the High Court Order.  I kind of feel like now would be a good time to peel myself away from the endless work-related tasks that normally fill my early mornings and get a start on preparing for Big Brother.  Yeah…I’m a slacker procrastinator.  Without further ado, here is the list:

1. First order of business…picture-language cards. After a lot of research and comparisons with other therapy cards, I’m going with these:

“An absolute essential for home and center based programs, this set was created by a parent and a therapist both personally experienced in the program needs of Applied Behavioral Analysis. This set of 350 vivid, beautifully photographed noun cards is an invaluable tool for teaching key language concepts to children with autism or other speech and language delays. The set includes images in nine basic categories: Animals, Foods, Vehicles, Furniture, Clothing, Toys, Everyday Objects, Shapes and Colors…”

For the purpose of communication and teaching, I feel that these will get us started.  Big Brother is now commuincating using Cantonese, but doesn’t know English.

2. Which brings me to this….the travel dictionary containing useful phrases.

“Nuff said.  Haha ;o)

3. Car Seat.  Exciting, I know.

4. Order the CARES restraints for the airplane.  Thank goodness we can rent them!  If you’re wondering what the heck these are, check out this post.

5. Backpack for Big Brother.  This is the new model of the one we use for Little Man, so we want something similar.  I’m thinking ebay or craigslist will be able to help us out for this considering both boys will be reaching that weight limit in the next several years and Little Man uses his considerably less now on hiking trips.  We’re hoping to use these in the airport as well as for hiking once home.

So, that’s the list for now.  Guess I need to get started, huh?!
